Seven techniques our painters work in

Recent studio pieces, shown to demonstrate technique. Any of them can be painted to your size and palette, or used as a starting point for your own design.

Technique 1

Palette-knife florals

Flowers built petal by petal with a palette knife, so each one stands off the canvas. Works for cascading botanicals, loose bouquets and dense garden scenes, in soft neutrals or saturated color.

Technique 2

Mixed-media relief

Modeling paste, sand and crystal grit layered under color. The surface catches light and changes as you walk past it, which is why it reads well in lobbies and corridors.

Three ways to receive it

Choose per piece. High-relief textures ship stretched so the surface arrives intact.

Rolled canvas

For framers and in-house framing

Painted canvas with extra border for stretching, rolled paint-side out in a rigid tube. The lowest freight cost and the easiest to ship to a job site.

Stretched

Ready to hang

On wood stretcher bars with painted edges and hanging hardware. Required for high-relief and mixed-media work.

Framed

Finished piece

Floater frames in black, white, natural wood or metallic finishes, as in two of the pieces above.
